Report on Reunion Committee Meeting, Sat. August 2

Saturday, August 2, Jimmie and Bill Winderweedle opened their home to us for a covered-dish lunch which proved to be one of our best turnouts. There were twenty-one people present:  Bill and Jimmie Winderweedle, Skip and Fran Penny, Jon and Ruth Spradley, Larry and Gloria Reiche, Jan and Rickie Gustafson, Ray Cullifer, Naomi Baxter, Barbie Cusano, Barbara Ellis, Jacque Frutchey, Carol Galloway, Jim Hulbert, Lee Gartside, Carole Pfetcher, Linda Lee and Marion Pike.

We met for about an hour and discussed plans for the reunion. It seems the date for the Picnic in the Park has been rescheduled and will be April 25 which is the week end after our reunion. Everyone in the area is invited to return to Central Park in Winter Park for this annual event.

When
Saturday, April 19, 2008, 10 AM to 1 PM

Why
Class of 1959 met at a  table with Lee Gartside to find out what we have been up to and to become reacquainted with classmates. The class of 1958 was celebrating its fiftieth and had a large representation in the park. Some of our CATS continued to party with '58 and attended events at the Mt. Vernon Inn that evening.
Jim Hulbert arranged for us to have lunch at the Rollins Beanery in a private area. The group walked from Central Park to Rollins.  This was a great time for us to get away from the hustle and bustle and really talk to our own classmates. Also under stand the food was very good, too.  Thanks to Marion who made name tags for those who  let her know they were coming. She also had many past and present photographs to enjoy and scrapbooks to share.

FIFTIETH CLASS REUNION, April, 17, 18, and 19, 2009

Minutes from January 13, 2009, Chili Fest at Jean and Ray Cullifer's

Yet another great meeting was held at the lovely, new home of Ray and Jean Cullifer on Tuesday, January 12, 3009.  You would not believe they have been there just a little over a month! We had several kinds of chili, taco soup, Park Avenue Sloppy Joes and soup, etc.

First timers were Colin and Sharon Crews, Ronnie Cayll, Bill and Hannah Thornton Case and John Ellis, husband of Burgess Lynch Ellis.

We were very happy to see Phil Daniels who is recovering nicely from a heart attack. We sang happy birthday to him. I haven't had time to count how many were there, but Ray had to bring in chairs from the outside to seat everyone!

Lee reviewed plans for the golf tournament which will be open to anyone who wold like to play. Guests will pay $39 and will not be eligible for prizes. He and Bill are planning to have lunch at 11:00 with those who are interested. TOff will be 1:00. The time is set by Dubsdread.

Linda reviewed her plans for the Power Point Presentation. We hope to have copies for everyone. Hannah and Bill brought the cart that is pulled behind the ride-on cooler which will be the Friday night drawing prize.  Linda is contacting the teachers, Joyce will greet and seat the teachers when they arrive. Sharon Hearn  is assisting with this.

Ray Cullifer discussed the photographer who taking the shots for the memory book.  Her photos will be available on a disk for anyone who wishes to purchase it from her for $20.  Lee reported we will have cameras on the tables for everyone to take candid shots. These cameras will be turned in and there is no telling where you may see those photos!

Ray is working on the hospitality room. Jon Spradley, Ed Russell will be working with him on drinks for Friday night that will be moved to the hospitality room at the Mt. Vernon after the BBQ at The Farmers' Market. There will be beer, wine and water to go with your dinner for a small donation.

A reminder, Carolyn Ruelle, is arranging reservations for those who are arriving early and would like to meet at Olive Garden for a dutch-treat dinner.

Carole Pfetcher Montgomery reported on publicity. Several local papers will run notices ahead and possibly photos of the reunion itself. She also explained that when a reservation is received, a ticket will go into the pot for that person. These tickets will be drawn at all three main events to determine winners of our fantistic prizes.

It was announced that Skip and Fran Penney are moving the end of the month to Texas for a two-year stay. Ray presented Skip with an authentic cowboy hat to start him on his way.  Skip expects to be back for two weeks in April to help with the reunion.

Barbara Ellis Price announced that we only need 59 more Information Sheets to reach 100% return. She is anxious to have these forms turned in so she can compile the Memory Book which will be on sale for only $30.  The photos from the reunion will be added and copies should be mailedout in the summer.  She also confirmed that the third mailing will go out in early February. Marion reviewed the reservation sheet which will have a breakdown of costs for all events on the Reunion Weekend. The total cost for the three meals and a reservation fee will be $125 per person. This cost has factored in mailing expenses, decorating, etc. Additional expenses will be the Golf Tournament, Boat Tour and Bridge games.  Other activities suggested for classmates that weekend are the Maitland Rotary Art Festival (Carolyn Ruelle) and tour of the Maitland Historical Society. phone:  407-644-2451 ( Carol Galloway Wesson).

Marion reported on the decorating committee progress. They will meet Friday with the balloon lady. Another meeting will be January 22 at Marion's home. She has the name tags ready to go when reservations are received.  She and Carolyn have arranged for plants for centerpieces and will be purchasing vases soon.

Carol Wesson brought us up-to-date on Sunshine and asked that she be notified of anyone who should receive a card of encouragement.

Skip gave a rundown on costs for meals and facilities. Bill W. confirmed the plans for the Boat Tour. Jim Hulbert reported that Bill Gordon II was keeping his father in line.
